French Beach Cooking School

The French Beach Cooking School, started during the summer of 2009, is the realization of a dream by owner, Marcie Gauntlett.  Long-time cook, food columnist, caterer and down-to-earth "foodie," she states she would rather be in the kitchen messing with food than almost anything else - except maybe, riding a horse! A long-time 4-H food club leader, she loves to teach and pass on the myriad of kitchen secrets and techniques learned over the last 50 years - from baklava to sushi with Russian pelmeni inbetween! With the wild herbs, greens, berries and mushrooms that flourish in this lush climate, one could easily live on his or her foraging if needed, along with techniques on drying or preserving these wild culinary treasures.  Ethnic foods are also favoured and the classes will cover many different cuisines from various countries. Classes are scheduled normally for the last Saturday of each month from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Seaside Drive in Shirley.  See Class Page. Come see us!
